Annual Business Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Janice Klein, Michelle Reid, Joanna Brace, Marcus Monenerkit, Tony Thibodeau, Nikki Lober, Christine Brindiza, John Bello, Cherie Koss, Ann-Mary Lutzick, Berlin Loa, Kari Carlisle, Denise Lopez, Lindsay Benacka, Myles Gallagher

I.               Call to Order at 10:05am

II.              State of the Organization
Despite challenges of the previous year, MAA continued to fulfill its mission to promote a vital museum community in Arizona through professional development, advocacy, and networking. More participation than ever at conference and workshops via online platforms. Eight representatives at the museum advocacy day in February which kicked off a monthly advocacy newsletter. Also added a monthly networking opportunities for museum professionals via Zoom. Happy to report that most museums are either opened or in the process of opening at this point. Thanks you to all of the members who continue to support MAA, the board members for their time and expertise, and Janice Klein and her tireless efforts as MAA’s Executive Director.

III.            Annual Business Meeting Minutes-March 23, 2020
Marcus moved to approve; Christine seconded; unanimously approved

IV.            Treasurer’s Report
a.     2020- Cherie noted that despite challenging year, MAA final actual budget closely matched projected budget especially membership and the conference. There was a $5,000 donation made by TAM when it unfortunately resolved. There were no questions or comments.
b.     2021-Cherie noted that there are no major changes to this year’s budget from last year with the exception of the donation column. No questions or comments were made.

V.             Board Election Results
a.     Cherie Koss-Treasurer; Tony Thibodeau-Northern Region Director; Joanna Brace-Central Region Director; Gina Wilkinson- At-Large Director; Berlin Loa- At-Large Director
b.     With the exception of Berlin Loa, all of the board members were re-elected. Berlin join us from the School of Information at the University of Arizona. She will be guiding our grant-funded project to organize MAA’s archives over the summer.
